LEAGUE HISTORY In January 2013, through an initiative set up by UK Athletics, the existing National Junior Athletic League and the National Young Athletics League amalgamated to form the UK Youth Development League for athletes under 20 years of age. The management of the new league was formed by utilising existing committee members in key roles, from the previous leagues. A number of changes have taken place and the current management can be found on the contacts page. Following the 2014 AGM Norma Blaine MBE retired as Chairman to become the leagues first president with Grace Hall taking over as Chairman. |

20.12.2020. 2021 Provisional Dates.
After the turbulent time of 2020, it’s likely that 2021 will not be without its challenges too.
We are quite determined to put on competition for all our member clubs and their athletes but it’s not yet clear what form that will take.
We’ve asked clubs for their input via a questionnaire and thank all those who took the time and effort to send them back; their opinions and suggestions are most valuable as we acknowledge that each club’s circumstances differ across the country, and we wanted an individual insight into those differences. We will be scrutinising the returns carefully to put together a competition structure.
Ideally we would prefer to offer a structure similar to what we’ve offered in the past, our Plan A, but fully accept that this may not be practicable for 2021, and so will look at suitable alternatives which may themselves have to be flexible to cater for the varying Covid restrictions around the regions.
What we do currently have in place are all the dates which have been added to the UKA calendar for YDL competition:
At the moment, this looks like:
LAG: Sat 24 April; Sat 15 May; Sat 5 Jun; Sat 17 Jul
UAG: Sun 2 May; Sun 30 May; Sun 27 Jun; Sun 25 Jul
We have also been allocated the weekend of Sept 4/5 which has traditionally been our finals weekend.
